少小离家老大回，

乡音无改鬓毛衰。

儿童相见不相识，

笑问客从何处来。

（二）

离别家乡岁月多，

近来人事半消磨。

惟有门前镜湖水，

春风不改旧时波。

I left home when young and return in old age,

My hair is thin and grey, but my accent just the same.

The young children fail to recognize my face,

Laughing and enquiring from where I came.

Since I left home, so many years have faded away,

So much has vanished while so little remains.

Only in Mirror Lake in front of my very gate,

Does spring breeze ripple the water as in old days.
