The Magpie Bridge
By Jimin Chen
The grapevine shed a little star
Tap the sultry heart of qixi
A thousand years wait for the magpie to sing
A thousand years of appointment mutual affection
Since the queen’s golden hairpin across the secular ashram
The time and tide of the hourglass countless ordinary dust sentimental
The turbulent sky river do not swell with waves of pity
The honest old ox cannot bear the desire of reunion
A burden on a cowherd cannot reach the wings of a magpie
The woman weaver’s tears could not penetrate the orthodox spirit
Disappointment grew on the Banks of the Milky Way
Only the wind is still blowing in the July heat
The only remaining love is still spreading
Only drunkenness in the dreamtime is forever
Written in the year of the dog by Jimin Chen
