A Poetic Heart Immersed in Yaochi Lake
By Baihe Qingquan
Translated by Zhou Kenan
A desire is connected with a surprise
A little shyness is followed by a relief and delight
The Heavenly Lake,I have come to you with a poetic heart
I know I'm ordinary, but I still want to go beyond
I want to take a poet's yearning
To the place nearest to the sky and farthest from the dust
My poetry is just a small ink-stone
Which I have temporarily stored in the bookcase for the college entrance examination results
With a handful of the holy water of the Heavenly Lake
I want to wash away the utilitarian dust of the children
In the Sanskrit of Wenchang Pavilion in Fushou Temple
I’d like to immerse the children's happy hearts of seeking knowledge
How I want to be a leaf on a thousand-year-old elm
Watching Western Queen Mother reveal the Heavenly Mountains with the magic cudgel
Also I’d like to immerse my poetic heart in the Heavenly Lake
Banished Immortal,come back please
Let’s share in the bright moon and indite poems together
(Written during the tour of the Heavenly Lake in the Heavenly Mountains on June 20th,2019.)
