有人说:历史上有三个苹果影响了人类，改变了世界，一个是夏娃和亚当在伊甸园吃的智慧果，开启了人类的智慧和对世界的理解；第二个苹果的掉落是牛顿发现了万有引力定律；第三个就是乔布斯的苹果，电脑和智能手机的发明，极大地改变了人们的生活和工作方式。这三只苹果分别涉及人类智慧、科学进步和技术创新，对世界产生了深远影响。继13世纪《马可·波罗》开启中西文化交流开启后的2019年3月，以《牛郎织女》和《罗密欧与朱丽叶》中西方异曲同工古典愛情故事为背景“七夕国际夫妻节”International Couples Day的倡议就是第四个苹果！它讲述中西方愛情故事，实践人文交流。体现的是人之间情感沟通、消除隔阂和误解，构建“文明互鉴”的双向通道。使其成为国际社会彼此认知的“轻载体”。

The Four Remarkable Apples

It is said that three apples in history have influenced humanity and transformed the world:The first was the "fruit of wisdom" eaten by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, which awakened human wisdom and initiated humanity's understanding of the world. The second was the falling apple that led Newton to discover the Law of Universal Gravitation; The third was the "Apple" associated with Steve Jobs—through the invention of computers and smartphones, it has drastically changed people's lifestyles and work patterns. These three apples relate to human wisdom, scientific advancement, and technological innovation respectively, exerting a profound impact on the world.

Following the 13th-century The Travels of Marco Polo, which pioneered cultural exchanges between China and the West, a fourth "apple" emerged in March 2019: the initiative to establish "International Couples Day". This initiative draws inspiration from two classic love stories that resonate remarkably across Eastern and Western cultures—China’s The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl and the West’s Romeo and Juliet.

International Couples Day tells the tales of Eastern and Western love, practices cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and embodies emotional communication between individuals, the elimination of barriers and misunderstandings, as well as the building of a two-way channel for "mutual learning among civilizations". It has thus become a "lightweight carrier" for the international community to understand one another.

Love is an eternal theme of humanity. The steadfast devotion in the Eastern concept of love and the passionate, romantic nature of the Western concept of love complement and illuminate each other brilliantly.

"International Couples Day" (inspired by the Chinese Qixi Festival) integrates cultural elements from both the East and the West, fostering friendly people-to-people exchanges. It strengthens the bond of mutual support within families— the basic "cells" of society— and promotes their health and harmony. As the world is one big family, "harmony in the family ensures prosperity in all undertakings". May the world be filled with warm affection, joyful laughter of happiness, and boundless aspirations as vast as the stars and the sea. United by love, distance fades into closeness; though distinct, Eastern and Western cultures both shine with extraordinary splendor. We wish for world peace!

“七夕国际夫妻节”倡议，恰构建起“文明互鉴”双向通道。阐释了不同文明之间在理解与尊重中实现万物共荣发展的智慧。2019年西北大学华侨华人研究院，以七夕文化融入中西方古老爱情故事与意大利 一带一路国际文化经贸文化理事会共同发起，传递了中国夫妻关系的“和而不同，家国同构”价值观，。意大利威尼斯市毛利斯王子是一个具有600多年历史的嘎萨诺皇室家族宗亲嫡传人，针对在罗密欧与朱丽叶家乡景区挂“七夕国际夫妻节文化基地”牌子事宜，获悉该节由来背景是中西异曲同工的两个古老爱情故事时，他欣然说了一句话:爱的丝绸之路

The initiative of "International Couples Day" (inspired by the Chinese Qixi Festival) has precisely built a two-way channel for "mutual learning among civilizations". It interprets the wisdom of achieving the common prosperity and development of all things among different civilizations through understanding and respect. 

In 2019, the Institute of Overseas Chinese Studies of Northwest University, integrating Qixi culture with ancient Chinese and Western love stories, jointly launched the initiative with the Italy "Belt and Road" Cultural and Economic Council. This initiative conveys the Chinese values of "harmony without uniformity" and "the integration of family and country" in the relationship between couples. 

Prince Maurizio of Venice, Italy, is a direct descendant of the Gazzano royal family with a history of over 600 years. When he was informed about the plan to hang the plaque of "Cultural Base of International Couples Day" at the scenic spot in the hometown of Romeo and Juliet, and learned that the origin of this festival is rooted in two ancient love stories that echo each other (one from the East and one from the West), he readily commented: "A Silk Road of Love".

“和而不同”，书写“和合共生”国际爱国公约的时代答卷

2025年10月1日，即将召开的日内瓦论坛，以“和而不同”，书写“和合共生”，“国际爱国公约倡议对世界和平的影响”为核心议题，“爱国不以损害他国利益为前提”——这一核心理念，正通过国际爱国公约倡议，转化为照亮人类和平前行之路的实践力量。截至2025年8月30日，来自54个国家的164个机构、413名代表已确认参与10月1日在联合国日内瓦万国宫举办的专题论坛。其中，非政府组织（NGO）占比超50%（89个机构、220名代表），涵盖咨商机构、私营企业、学术机构等多元主体。这一规模与2022年倡议发起时仅60个NGO支持的初期阶段形成鲜明对比，清晰印证其理念正获全球民间社会广泛认同，以蓬勃的民间动能为世界和平与发展注入强劲动力。两部跨越山海的古典爱情故事，虽承载迥异文化基因——东方重“礼”与“韧”，西方崇“情”与“勇”，却共同叩击出“和而不同、爱与坚守”的永恒共鸣。

"Harmony Without Uniformity": Writing the Era's Answer Sheet for the "Concord and Coexistence" International Patriotic Pact

On October 1, 2025, the upcoming Geneva Forum will take "Harmony Without Uniformity: Writing 'Concord and Coexistence' – The Impact of the International Patriotic Pact Initiative on World Peace" as its core theme. The core concept – "Patriotism shall not be pursued at the expense of other countries' interests" – is being transformed, through the International Patriotic Pact Initiative, into practical strength that illuminates the path for humanity toward peace.

As of August 30, 2025, 164 institutions and 413 representatives from 54 countries have confirmed their participation in the special forum to be held at the Palais des Nations (United Nations Office at Geneva) on October 1. Among them, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) account for over 50% (89 institutions and 220 representatives), covering diverse entities such as consultative organizations, private enterprises, and academic institutions. This scale stands in stark contrast to the initiative’s early stage in 2022, when it only received support from 60 NGOs. It clearly demonstrates that the initiative’s concept is gaining widespread recognition from the global civil society, injecting strong impetus into world peace and development with vigorous civil momentum. 

The two classic love stories that transcend geographical boundaries, though carrying distinct cultural genes – the East emphasizes "propriety" and "resilience," while the West advocates "passion" and "courage" – jointly strike a timeless chord of "harmony without uniformity, love and perseverance."
