Grandmaster Jason Tan, Founder and Global Chief Councillor of 【Federation of World Cultural & Art Society (Singapore)】 attended the Lunar New Year (First Day) Celebration 2024 organized by Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI)

新加坡尚达曼总统在大年初一（2月10日）以主宾身份，出席新加坡中华总商会和通商中国联合举办的“聚商惠民迎金龙”新春团拜时，阐述上述观点。他说：“无论我们将目光投向何处，美国、中国，还是全球，我们都同时面对多重不确定性，全球范围的不确定性组合前所未有。我们必须学会与之共存。这些不确定性不太可能很快解决或消除。但不确定性并不意味没机会。我们必须寻找机会、分散布局，避免集中投资。”“最重要的是，无论身处何处，我们须深化自己的技能并加强新加坡的品牌，别以非黑即白方式看世界应放眼全局避免走极端。”

尚达曼总统指出，在这样不确定的环境中，中华总商会和通商中国扮演的角色越发重要，即协助新加坡企业顺应外部市场，进军海外且茁壮成长。他说：“实际上，国际业务增长是许多新加坡企业发展的主要途径，也将是新加坡繁荣的一个源泉。”

在此隆重的新加坡中华总商会2024甲辰年初一新春团拜，【世文联】创会全球总顾问陈光億宗师与新加坡尚达曼总统伉俪、贸工部长颜金勇先生、教育部兼人力部政务部长颜晓芳女士、前官委议员庄绍平先生及多位中华总商会商界领袖们等互相祝贺新年好，同时陈光億宗师与缅甸大使佐佐梭先生交流文化，再与加拿大顾问大使（商业和经济事务）西蒙·皮埃尔·罗姆先生交流时谈及【世界文化艺术联合总会】在此春节期间2024年2月25日由本会国际体育亲善大使兼【世界拳道联盟总会】副主席张君龙拳王举办龙年拳王锦标赛之夜，为此加拿大拳击锦标赛增添光辉并同时也让全球拳击界爱好者们都关注此次盛会。

约400人参与了这场团拜，多名部长也出席活动，包括贸工部长颜金勇先生、教育部长陈振声先生、通讯及新闻部长兼内政部第二部长杨莉明女士、国家发展部兼外交部高级政务部长沈颖女士、贸工部兼文化、社区及青年部政务部长刘燕玲女士、教育部兼人力部政务部长颜晓芳女士等。来自58个国家的外国使节也共赴其盛。

On the first day of Lunar New Year (February 10), Lunar New Year Celebration 2024 “Gathering Businesses and Benefiting People - Welcoming of the Golden Dragon” was organized by Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) and co-organized by Business China Singapore with Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Singapore President, as the Guest of honor. He shared that, "No matter where we look, whether in the United States, China, or the world, we are facing multiple uncertainties at the same time. The combination of uncertainties on a global scale is unprecedented. We must learn to live with it. These uncertainties are not are likely to be resolved or eliminated quickly. But uncertainty does not mean there are no opportunities. We must look for opportunities, diversify and avoid concentrated investments.” “Above all, wherever we are, we must deepen our skills and To strengthen Singapore's brand, stop looking at the world in black and white terms and look at the overall picture to avoid going to extremes.”

President Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam also pointed out that, in such uncertain environments, SCCCI and Business China Singapore play an increasingly important role to help Singaporean enterprises adapt to the external market, expand overseas and thrive. He added, "In fact, international business growth is a path for development of many Singaporean businesses and will also be a source of prosperity for Singapore."

On this auspicious Lunar New Year Celebration 2024 held by SCCI, Grandmaster Jason Tan, Global Chief Councillor of Federation of World Cultural & Art Society (Singapore) exchanged New Year greetings with Singapore President Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister of Trade and Industry Mr. Gan Kim Yong, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education and Manpower Ms. Gan Siow Huang, Singapore Former Official Member of Parliament Mr. Chuang Shaw Peng, and many other SCCCI business leaders. Grandmaster Jason Tan also exchanged cultural with Mr. Zaw Zaw Soe, Ambassador of Myanmar, and engaged in discussions about the upcoming FOWCAAS event with Mr. Simon-Pierre Rheaume, Canada's Counsellor for Commercial and Economic. They shared about Dragon Year Boxing Championship Night, which will be held during the period of Lunar New Year on 25 February 2024, organized by International Sports Goodwill Ambassador of FOWCAAS and Vice President of World Complete Martial Arts Federation (WCMAF), Boxing Champion Mr. Zhang Junlong, which adds to the splendor of the Canadian Boxing Championships and at the same time, drawing the attention of worldwide boxing enthusiasts.

The celebration consisted of an estimation of 400 people, including Minister for Trade and Industry Mr. Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Education Mr. Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Communications and Information and Second Minister for Home Affairs Ms. Josephine Teo, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and National Development Ms. Sim Ann, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Trade and Industry and Culture, Community and Youth Ms. Low Yen Ling, and Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education and Manpower Ms. Gan Siow Huang. Foreign diplomats from 58 countries had also participated in this celebration.

联合国大会通过决议将农历新年列为联合国假日，2023年12月22日联合国事务联合国大会第78届会议今天协商一致通过决议，将农历新年确定为联合国假日。这份题为“会议时地分配办法”的决议承认“农历新年具有重要意义，请设在总部和庆祝此节日的其他工作地点的联合国机构避免在农历新年这天举行会议”。

Special Note:

The 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly on December 22, 2023, unanimously adopted a resolution today to designate the Lunar New Year as a United Nations holiday. The resolution, titled "Pattern of Conferences," recognizes "the importance of the Lunar New Year and requests United Nations agencies at Headquarters and other duty stations where this holiday is celebrated to avoid holding meetings on the Lunar New Year."

Welcome the new year and receive blessings, and the world will be prosperous! On the occasion of the New Year, United Nations Secretary-General Guterres delivered a video message, wishing Chinese people around the world good health, happiness and prosperity in the Year of the Dragon.

Guterres said that this year’s celebrations at the United Nations are particularly different: the Lunar New Year appears on the United Nations holiday calendar for the first time. He thanked China and the Chinese people for their firm support for the United Nations, multilateralism and global progress. He said that as long as we work together, we can achieve a sustainable, just and peaceful future.

On the occasion of the Year of the Dragon, I would like to extend my warmest greetings to everyone.

The dragon symbolizes vitality, wisdom, protection, and good luck.

Exactly the traits we need to meet today's global challenges.

Celebrations at the United Nations are especially different this year: the Lunar New Year appears on the UN holiday calendar for the first time.

I thank China and the Chinese people for their unwavering support for the United Nations, multilateralism and global progress.

As long as we work together, we can achieve a sustainable, just and peaceful future.

【Federation of World Cultural & Art Society (Singapore) (FOWCAAS)】announces New Year greetings to friends around the world. With the arrival of Lunar New Year, FOWCAAS sends the most sincere wishes for the New Year. We represent people from different countries and of various cultural backgrounds, through our exchange and cooperation of civilizations working together to build a harmonious and friendly social union. We deeply hope that in the New Year, humans can unite closely, transcend geographical and racial boundaries, and address global challenges collectively. We believe that through global cooperation in culture and arts, greater progress can be achieved.

In the new year of 2024, we also hope to strengthen environmental protection, promote cultural exchanges amongst countries, advocate for sustainable development, protect our shared planet, and leave behind a beautiful home for future generations. Federation of World Cultural & Art Society (Singapore), together with people from all countries around the world, promotes understanding and respect through the exchange of Eastern and Western cultures, eliminating biases and misunderstandings. We believe through dialogue and cooperation, we can build a peaceful and prosperous world.
