Reflections on the Painting of "The Great Way of the Chinese Civilisation - Laozi"
The portrait of Laozi, the founder of Taoism , painted by Professor Chen Wenzhe, has left a deep impression on me. Through observing this exquisite artwork, I not only appreciate Professor Chen's artistic talent but also gain a deeper understanding and admiration for Laozi's philosophical teachings.
In these three paintings, the image of Laozi is depicted with great solemnity and tranquility. His eyes are profound and wise, as if peering through the mist of time, perceiving the essence of the world. His countenance is calm and serene, exuding a transcendent temperament, and Professor Chen skillfully employs lines and shadows to portray Laozi's profound wisdom and extraordinary realm.
As I viewed these three paintings, I felt as if I could sense the flow of Laozi's philosophical thoughts within them. Laozi emphasizes the Way of Nature, advocating harmony and coexistence with the natural order. He promotes governing by inaction, believing that the highest state is "doing without doing." This philosophy, which transcends personal desires and pursues the truth of nature and the universe, resonates deep within me. In modern society, where people often pursue utility and material possessions, Laozi's teachings serve as a constant reminder to seek inner tranquility and balance with nature.
Professor Chen's portrayal of Laozi through his artwork presents these ideas in an artistic form, providing me with a more intuitive and profound understanding of Laozi's philosophy. These three paintings are not just exquisite artworks but also a baptism of the soul. They remind me to pursue inner tranquility and balance, to adapt to the changes of nature, and to transcend the pursuit of utility, in the search for the true meaning of life.
Through Professor Chen Wenzhe's painting of Laozi, a figure in Taoism, I have gained a fresh understanding of Laozi's philosophical teachings. I sincerely admire Professor Chen's artistic talent, as he conveys the sparks of Laozi's wisdom through the power of painting. It allows us to seek inner tranquility and wisdom amidst the clamor of the world. This artwork has forever engraved Laozi's teachings in my heart, inspiring me to embark on endless exploration and reverence for Taoism philosophy.
Note: Additionally, I have composed a seven-line poem titled "Ode to the Painting of the Divine Way of Laozi."
In Chen Wenzhe's brush, Laozi is true,
Wisdom-filled gaze, mystical and through.
Countenance solemn, like a celestial breeze,
Taoism philosophy permeate the painted seas.
Nature's laws embrace all living things,
Governing by inaction, a tradition that clings for thousands of years.
