Memory of Chrysanthemum
By Baochai
Western winds are embracing the lonesome grief,
Sadness accompanies red peppers and white reeds.
Empty old garden can't hold autumn's trace.
Fine crescent in light frosts I dream to gaze.
Vanishing swans take away my fragile obsession,
Only rhythms of evening anvil to which I listen.
Who would pity at my withering yellow petals,
May Chongyang Day brings comfort to my soul.
