Tango in Buenos Aires
By Ken Fan
Dimly lit,
Filled with smell of cheap cigarettes.
A joint of indecency,
or maybe.
Waiter came and went
The local guy whispers:
-- Got you a Malbec,
May not be as good...
-- hehe.
Arrival this morning
Was an unfortunate timing.
Such a gorgeous metropolis,
Yet shrouded in sadness,
With mourners in line for miles.
-- Sorry that Kirshner died,
All things were canceled...
-- how was he?
-- as a president? Good and bad...
A very Argentinian answer.
Suddenly
the light is on at the front.
A stage, all right,
Along comes some forceful electric guitar.
A woman starts singing,
Almost muscular.
Then the dance commences,
With ferocious foot steps,
Like machine gun firing.
-- Ha, Tango!
-- Ya, time is hard.
Only tango and Malbec could save us!
-- 唯有杜康!
-- What?
-- Never mind...
Note: Néstor Carlos Kirchner Jr. was former president of Argentina, who passed away in Oct. 2010.
