Beethoven's Tears
By Ken Fan
It takes utmost suffering to bring out an utmost ecstacy of cheers,
It takes a man of unmatched fury to trample the ominous fate to his feet.
Others only hear with their feeble ears,
You have pursued with your powerful heartbeat.
Some has softened those hearts with smooth tunes and pretty roses,
You moved mountains and rivers with your volcanic fire and might.
Your abused and lonely life gushes out in thunderous notes,
Which has elevated millions of humble souls to lofty heights.
The devine passages you composed transcend over lands and oceans,
The monuments you've erected will never be surpassed in a thousand years.
Now you're leading us through your pastoral gardens,
And chant the glorious Ode to Joy in hot burning tears.
Oh God, you have your coterie of darling angels in the heaven,
Here on earth, we have our one-and-only beloved Beethoven.
