第七十九章
和大怨,必有余怨;报怨以德,安可以为善?是以圣人执左契,而不责于人。有德司契,无德司彻。天道无亲,常与善人。
Chapter 79
While animosity could be resolved, grudges remain. To repay resentment with kindness, how can this be the right way? A Taoist would keep loan receipts but won’t force on debtors. So a virtuous man is like a receipt holder, whereas a nonvirtuous man is like a tax collector. The law of nature is not biased towards any person, but often stays with kindness.

第八十章
小国寡民。使有什伯之器而不用;使民重死而不远徙;虽有舟舆,无所乘之;虽有甲兵,无所陈之。使人复结绳而用之。至治之极。甘美食,美其服,安其居,乐其俗,邻国相望,鸡犬之声相闻,民至老死不相往来。
Chapter 80
Make the country and population small. Use less tools even if in possession of them. Instill fears for death among citizens, so they will not relocate far. Discourage traveling in vehicles even if in possession of them. Seek no fights even if in possession of weapenries. Thus, people will return to the primitive age of knot counting, and the country will be superbly governed. And people are well fed, well dressed, comfortably dwelled and live happily. There's only a short distance among states, and each can hear dog barking and cock crowing, but never interact in their lifetime.

第八十一章
信言不美,美言不信。善者不辩,辩者不善。知者不博,博者不知。圣人不积,既以为人己愈有,既以与人己愈多。天之道,利而不害;人之道,为而不争。
Chapter 81
Truthful words may not be pleasant, and pleasant words may not be not truthful. A kind man doesn't argue, and an arguing man is not kind. Those who know may not possess broad knowledge, those who possess broad knowledge may not know. Sages don't accumulate for themselves, the more they give, the more they end up having. The law of nature is to benefit without harming, and the law of people is to benefit without fighting for themselves.
