A Poem's Funeral
By Luofu
Translated by Ken Fan
A love poem,
locked in my drawer for three decades,
was finally cast into the fireplace.
Words,
Being burned, are making squeaky wails.
Ashes stay mum,
And are convinced,
One day,
That person will read'em in gales.

送别歌
李叔同
长亭外,古道边,
芳草碧连天。
晚风拂柳笛声残,
夕阳山外山。
天之涯,地之角,
知交半零落。
一壶浊酒尽余欢,
今宵别梦寒。
A Farewell Song
By Li Shutong
Translated by Ken Fan
Beyond the farewell pavillion,
And down an ancient roadway,
Fresh meadows extend out to the horizon.
Caressed by evening breezes, willows dance to the sad tunes of a flute,
With endless mountains shrouded in dusky gloom.
From far corners under the heaven,
To distant ends of the earth,
Scattering around are so many darling friends.
Alas, with me only is a bottle of coarse liquor,
That warms my dream in this chilly night of adieu.
